DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha - Southwick Motocross Press Release

Southwick, MA - August 28, 2010 - The AMA MX National Series went into action over the weekend at Motocross 338 for the tenth round of the series. Being the toughest track of the year with its deep sand; it always results to be a true test of man and machinery. DNA Shred Stix/Star Racing/Yamaha was fielding top prospects of #20 Broc Tickle, #341 Nico Izzi, #577 Martin Davalos, new recruit for the final three races from South Africa #942 Gareth Swanepoel and #2 Jessica Patterson who took another overall win and closed in on the championship yet again.

Gareth Swanepoel had a great start to his first race for the team stateside, in timed practice he showed true potential by qualifying in good fashion. Settling in more on the bike, moto one started well for Swanepoel, 11th. Still adapting to track conditions, the likeable rider proved to be on the right track climbing to 10th, and along the way built in some confidence. Moto two for Swanepoel was even more impressive, as a start of 12th was only a sign of good things. Moving up quickly and finding good form, Gareth took over 8th on lap three. Dicing it out the entire thirty minutes without any weakness, Swanepoel secured 6th place which gave him a commendable 8th overall.

Davalos turned in a strong performance by starting in 4th, and after a few less fortunate moments he battled right to the end, finishing 11th. Moto two panned out much better, on lap one Martin found himself starting in 21st.  A quick leap forward on lap two put him into 14th, keeping with a great charge ahead; he’d settle netting 8th place.

Riding like he hadn’t missed a beat after breaking his collarbone, in the first moto Tickle got out of the gate in 20th. From there, Tickle put down some solid laps early on, and took his #20 YZ 250F upward into 12th. As time counted down to midway point, Tickle raced his way up to the competitors holding 8th. Using  any reserved energy he had, Tickle put in his best effort to snatch a higher placing, but in the end it was just out of reach and he’d finish out in 8th. When moto two came to existence, Tickle could be found in the 13th spot. Continuing the comeback, the focused kid worked in the same grand fashion as earlier. At the halfway point he hung tough, and eventually Tickle would claim 11th in the closing laps.

Also running was Izzi who gave his all and put together an impressive first part of moto one by running 3rd, but slipped to 12th. Moto two had Izzi down on lap on, resuming the race in 35th. After clawing his way to near the top twenty, another crash  for Nico took him out of the race altogether.

Results:
Rider - Moto 1 - Moto 2 - Overall Finish
Gareth Swanepoel - 10th - 6th - 8th
Martin Davalos - 11th - 8th - 9th
Broc Tickle - 8th - 11th - 10th
