Yadkinville, NC (September 27, 2009) - Joshua Strang and Charlie Mullins had all eyes on them as they battled their way around a brutal, rain-soaked track at GNCC round 11. Rain the day prior made the track a battlefield of deep ruts and mud holes, added in with the already challenging 15-foot creek jump. "It took me a couple of laps to get going," said Strang. "But I got going and put my head down."
Strang took over the lead and it looked as though he would stencil another victory onto the fuselage of his Suzuki RM-Z when disaster struck. "Josh threw it away in the mud and lost a lot of time. It was a fluke for such a good mud rider as Josh to go down, but it happens sometimes," said Team Manager Mike Webb. "He came back strong and would've won with a few more laps."
Strang recovered more then a full minute down on the leader and once again put his head down and charged to the front. But Strang ran out of time and finished second about 20 seconds behind the leader. "Its hard feeling like I'm the faster rider out there, but I keep making little mistakes here and there," Strang said. "Second place is good but not where I need to be." Mullins finished in third, minutes behind for a 2-3 Makita Suzuki train.
