The fastest rider on both days of the event Knight suffered clutch problems on day one, which forced him out of the final results. On day two David was in dominant form and comfortably finished ahead of visiting Frenchman Christophe Nambotin.
Although disappointed not to be a classified finisher on day one Knight recorded the fastest special test times on all but the opening three special tests due to a slipping clutch. Using the Natterjack Enduro as final training ahead of the International Six days Enduro in Portugal in two weeks, Knight was supremely confident on the fast, flowing motocross test and looked more than comfortable on the tight, twisty and in places technical enduro test.
Determined to make up for his day one disappointments David started day two by topping the opening special test by 13 seconds. Going on to win each and every one of the remaining five other tests he ended the day 49 seconds ahead of his closest rival.
David Knight: "The first day was a complete disaster. I lost my clutch half way through the first test but managed to get to the end and only lost a few seconds. Pretty much the same thing happened again on the second test. I won all of the other tests quite easily. It was good having Christophe Nambotin competing in the UK, it gave me someone to go for. We got the clutch fixed for day two and I had a great day. I didn't have any problem or make any mistakes. I wasn't too keen on the enduro test before the event, but after it got rough and rutted it was really good - great practice for the six days. I really enjoyed the second day. It's been about eight years since I last raced the Natterjack. Ending the British championship with a winning result, at an event where the sun was shining and the terrain was dry, has been good."
