Paul Whibley and Pirelli Scorpion MX Tires Capture XC1 GNCC Championship

Rome, Ga. - The 2009 Can-Am GNCC Racing season came to a close yesterday in Crawfordsville, Ind. at the Ironman GNCC. GEICO/JG Racing/Monster Kawasaki's Paul Whibley relied on his Scorpion MX tires throughout the season to take five overall victories en route to the XC1 Championship. With a fourth-place finish at the Ironman, Whibley captured his first GNCC title with a 20-point cushion.


In the amateur classes, Pirelli Scorpion MX and XC tires won 16 championships for the 2009 season. In the premier XC1 and XC2 classes, the Scorpion MX tire sat on 19 podiums with six wins in 26 races with the factory Kawasaki team.

Whibley's XC1 teammate Jimmy Jarrett captured seven top-five finishes, including four runner-up results to bring home fourth in the final standings. In the XC2 class, Scotty Watkins used 12 top-five finishes, five podiums and one win to also finish the season in fourth.
