Kawasaki Superbike Racing Team rider David Knight will not be competing at this year's Weston Beach Race, despite already released pre-event publicity material suggesting he would be. David had hoped to compete in the event, but as Weston takes place the day before the start of the '09 International Six Days Enduro, an event in which he will compete as a member of the British Trophy team, it is logistically impossible for him to do so.
The International Six Days Enduro takes place in Portugal from October 12 to 17.
David Knight: "Firstly, I'd like to apologise to anyone that was hoping to see me compete at Weston Beach Race this year and for any confusion caused due to the previous release of information on behalf of the event organizers. As everyone knows I love Weston Beach Race and have enjoyed competing in the event on numerous ocassions. This year the event takes place the day before the International Six Days Enduro starts. I had looked into the possibility of walking tests in Portugal and getting my bike into the Parc Ferme before then flying home to compete at Weston, which I could have done. The problem was getting back to Portugal. There simply wasn't enough time to get back to Portugal in time for the start of the ISDE. As a member of the British Trophy Team my goal is to do my best to win the event outright, which is something I feel I can do. I'm sure Weston will be a great event and I look forward to competing there again soon."
