Heads up testing of Quantya and Zero Electric Dirt Bikes.

We’ve been hearing a lot of electric-motorcycle buzz these days. It’s really not that surprising. The rapid advance in Ebike technology is making these things better than ever.

Electric dirt bikes draw a crowd

Well, we’ve about wrapped up our regular Dirt Rider testing of the newest of these rides and are putting the finishing touches on the complete story you’ll read in a new issue of Dirt Rider Magazine.

The Fox private mini bike track is great for these things: super tight in spots with good sweepers.

This afternoon, Pete Peterson and I had one of those great days of riding. And it just so happened to be on the tail-end of head-to-head testing between two of these cool new bikes. We just returned from a killer evening session at the ultra-cool Fox mini bike track aboard the Zero and Quantya Electric Dirt Bike offerings. After hitting some of the best off-road and moto testing we could find in Southern Califronia, the backyard scene just had to be explored!

We even went head-to-head with a solid gas backyard bike: the Yamaha TTR125

I’m not going to give up the test. But I’m going to give you a bunch of spy photos of our test day today.

Warren Johnson (left) and Pete Peterson take a breather before the next punt-o-rama

Highlights include Fox’s Warren Johnson battling it out big time with us while showing us his fast home-track lines, the entire Fox HQ population coming outside to see what all the lack-of-noise was about and all of us trying to park Peterson as high and as hard as possible.

On one part of the track you blitz past Fox Racing’s office windows and you’d see employees and guests adequately distracted by the site of silent dirt bikes ripping it up outside. Even the neighbors had to get close to believe what they were seeing.

Stop that...completely silent motorcycling!?

Can you imagine what it’s like to go bar-to-bar with your buddies and be able to talk smack the entire time? It’s great! Enjoy the pics.

Warren Johnson-Dungey (in sweet rider replica lid) gave his first experience on the Electric Motorcycles a big thumbs up.

The Zero's trick removeable batter means Zero downtime if you've got a spare. ha.
We tried to pump some life back into the Quantya after running her dry, it worked for 10 more laps!

We brought extra power, and we needed it!

We finally ran out of power, energy and sunlight at just the right time. A big thanks goes out to Fox Racing for letting us come crash (not really) their backyard for an afternoon.

Goodnight giggle machines
